甲殻類グループ Crustacea Group
近年海外からの輸入ダコが高騰し、将来、タコ類の安定供給が大きな課題となっています。一つの解決策は養殖で、50年間進んでいなかった種苗生産技術を格段に進歩させました。また、近年資源量が激減しているクルマエビについては、瀬戸内海を主な調査海域とした資源・生態研究から資源量低迷要因の解明に取り組んでいます。さらに養殖クルマエビの高付加価値化を目的として、ヘテロシスを利用した育種研究も推進しています。また、日本各地で放流による資源造成が図られているガザミにおいては、各県に対して遺伝子解析に関する技術移転を行っています。  |

研究のトピックス
・マダコの種苗生産は実験レベルながら飼育装置と餌の改良で、ふ化から着底稚ダコの飼育においてふ化ダコから日齢23の着底稚ダコの飼育生残率77%という成果を得ました。この成果を基に外部資金を得て、当機構を代表機関とした4研究機関、2民間企業のコンソーシアムで、養殖の実用化に向けた基盤技術開発をスタートさせました。・クルマエビの資源・生態調査に関しては、漁獲物調査により雌のサイズが近年小型化していること、大きな雌から生まれる幼生ほど、サイズが大きく飢餓耐性が高いことを明らかにしました。雌の小型化による幼生の質の変化が資源の加入量の減少や不安定化を招いている可能性を示しました。
・クルマエビの放流調査用に脱皮しても脱落しない外部標識の開発に成功しました。
